								Shawdon 14th. Septr. 1804

Dear Sir

I am favourd with your Letter of the 10 Inst. by which I find that Mrs. Stead accepts my offer of Twenty Thousand Pounds for Ryal. I have sold Property to the amount of near £ 40,000, for which I am to be paid by instalment; I am to be paid £ 10,000 in the course of next year 1805, and the remainder of the purchase money in the two succeeding years 1806 & 1807. I hope this may suit Mrs. Stead: it will be my inclination as well as interest to pay the money sooner and I have reason to expect that it will be in my power to do so.

I am with regard Dear Sir Your most Obedt. Servt.

      Wm. Hargrave

A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
