Dear Madm.

I have sent to Mr. Robson, but have just this moment writ him, that you had sent Mr. Angus who payed me the half years rent due at Lammass last, for wch. gave him a receipt. I am sorry you have had the trouble. My health would not permit me to attend at the Sessions. I was at Bishop Auckland on the 15 Inst. at a Session and to meet one of my Daughters who had been at Newcastle at the <divertions> there. Riding home at night in some Rain has fixed a Cold, fear it will not leave me soon & prevent my making any Excursions this winter. I am glad your Son escaped without any Accident at the great Hunt. My Compliments waits on yourself and him.

Dr. Madm. Your most Obed. Servt.

      Jno. Westgarth

PS When Mr. Baker has anything to say about the mine shall be ready to give him an answer or to order one to attend him.

To Mrs. Baker

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
