Dear Madam

       I wrote to you the 22d. & 26th. Ulto. to which I refer you.-

       I hope that you got well to Town and that this may find you, the Colonel & young Family perfectly well –The late very promising Account of my poor Brother flatters us with Hopes of his doing well:-

       We have been misinformed respecting the Lead Company’s Sale, which was at £30 the Fo[dde]r. & not the Ton as was represented in their Letter, since which Application has been made to me by Walker’s & Co. for 5,000 Pieces of Lead.   I made them an Offer of that Quantity or 10,000 pieces at £30-10- p[er] Fo[dde]r. one-third to be refined, at the usual Credit, to which I have not yet received an Answer.-

       I hear nothing further of the Bishop’s Suit; it is my  Opinion that the Answer to this Bill w[hi]ch was framed by Mr. Wilson and the Persons he empploy<s> was improper: and was going into a Matter which we were not called on to enter into; the Matter in Question was simply this; Whether the Agreement entered into with the Bishop was legal; & whether I made use of any undue Means for the obtaining it, either by concealing any Information relating to it that was required of me, or by any false Report or Representation imposed on the Bishop or his Agents?   there the Matter should have rested: - I have reason to say that this is the Opinion of a very able Lawyer who stands hign in the Profession –
