Madam!

I have perused the Lease from Mr. Westgarth to Mr. Baker, and think clearly that the former has no Right to use the Engine Shaft for any other Purpose than that of drawing Water. I think it would be proper for Marshall to have a Copy of the Lease sent him, that he may be able to resort to it on any Occasion.

I sent Mr. Jackson’s Letter. I had a Letter from Mr. Thompson to the same Effect as that to you.

I am Madam! Your very obt. Srvt.

      Geo: Pearson

You have the Lease & Marshall’s Letter retd. herewith.

Mrs. Baker

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
