To Richd. Horne Esq Ravensworth Castle July 27 1759

In obedience to the Boards Commands of the 6 June last we have made Estimates for Severall further Repairs Necessary to be done this year in the Derwentwater Estates which we send you inclosed together with severall agreements made for doing the work wch you will be pleased to observe is contracted for Twenty five pounds fourteen Shillings & seven pence under the Estimates which we hope the Board will approve of.

Inclosed we send you the Bill of loading Charter Partie and Invoyces of 176 Chalders of Team Coales Ship’d on Board of the Crown Jno. Bonnet master for the use of the Hospital amounting to one Hundred and Fifty four pounds one shilling and Three pence which Compleats the Boards order for this year.

The Estates of one Mr Whitfield the owner of Palmerly and Whitwalls etc which pays a Fee Farm Rent to the Derwentwater Estate of Two Shillings & Sixpence p ann. and of Ouston which also pays a Fee Farme Rent of Ten Shillings p ann. having been under sale for some years for the use of his Creditors there is an arrear now due of Five Pounds which w have demanded of Wm. Ord Esq. the purchaser who is ready to pay it on having what he calls a proper Receipt a Copy of which you have inclosed, as also two such Receipts as have been given for them both which you will be pleased to lay before the Board for their direction. We don’t find these Rents comprehended within the Manor of Wark in which we say Palmerly Whitewalls etc & Ouston lye, but yet the Receipts have been given for these Fee Farm as parcell of the Manor of Wark, therefore the Doubt with us is whether the Allteration of the Receipt ought to be Complyed with, least it should be in any Respect prejudicial to the Hospital in Regard to the Manor of Wark.

We have received the Boards Commands about the Lead Ore Dues which shall be taken care of. The Lessees of the Lead Mines are to keep them one year free from <Inbeslement > in case Sir etc

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
