To Richd. Horne Esqr Ravensworth Castle June 24 1759

Sir

We have reced. no proposals for purchasing the dues of Lead Ore, we begg leave to acquaint you therewith that no time may be lost therein. The price of Lead here, is much fallen and it is apprehended will be much lower if the Warr continues. According to our calculation Bouse Ore, should be now worth 50 s per Bing & Cutting Ore 45s per Bing, but as the Dues have never been sold up to these prices in proportion to the price of Lead, it is not to be expected now, particularly as the marketts may be lower.

I am for Mr Boag & Self Sir yours etc N Walton

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
