To Mr. Horne. Ravensworth Castle July 2nd 1758

Sir

Upon receiving the Boards Minutes of the 7th June last relating the Dues of Lead Ores. We misunderstood the Minute & took it that the 28 July Instant had been fixed for receiving Proposals but on receiving the Boards Minutes this day we find it was fixed for the 28 June and that the Dues are sold; which we are extremely sorry for as we have received a proposal for Capel Cleugh Wellop Knott, Carrs, carrs sun vein & Taylorsyke at 51 s per Bing from Mr Robert Loraine & we have reason to think Lord Carlisle Iintended to make an offer also. This I thought proper to Acquaint you with but suppose it can be of no use as the Dues are sold. I am for Mr Boag & self

      Sir Yours etc

      N Walton

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
