To Rich. Horne Esq Ravensworth Castle Novr. 17th 1758

Sir

We have lately been called upon by the Representatives of John Rogers Esq. who Claim the Coal under their lands at Throckley, & Mr Montague Member of Parliament for Huntingdon (one of those Gentlemen) having desired the Commissioners of the Hospital might be acquainted therewith, I thought proper to wait upon him with Mr Stewart to know more particularly the Nature of his Claim; and by this Post I expect Mr Stewart will give Mr Everest a P’ticular Account thereof, to which I begg leave to Referr , as no doubt he will immediately lay the Same before the Board. Mr Montague is a Gentleman of great Worth and Hon.r is very desirous of having this Affair amicably Settled, but says as he is advised he and the other parties have a right, they cannot give it up without being Convinced to the Contrary. He therefore desires the Board of Directors will give the Affair as much dispatch as the nature of the thing will admitt of, that he may know their pleasure. I am for Mr Boag and Self

      Sir your most Obed Servt

      Nichos. Walton
