Messrs. Mulcaster

We have received your letter of the 28th inst and are glad to hear that Mr. James Mulcaster is set forward on his journey to Keswick. The Letter wrote from Chester was wrote as if it had been from this place and only desired your meeting us at Hexham the 23rd Inst. We approve of your having taken Jno. Lowes to assist Thomas Pattinson for the reasons you have given. A Cast Iron Pot shall be immediately Ordered according to your desire. As the Wind has been very boisterous we expect you have had a thorough Trial of the Chimneys and shall be glad to have a good account - a true one we are confident we shall have. We are

      Your Humble Servants

      Walton & Turner

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
