Messrs. Mulcaster Farnacres 29 July 1786

We have recd. your Letters of the 22nd. & 24th. Instant, and as Mr. Walton expects very soon to be in your Neighbourhood, and most probably at the Mill, he wishes to see the Stamp Mill Covering before he gives any Directions as to painting. From what Mr. Walton has heard, the Blagill Co. had no chance to purchase Windy Brow Ore. We are very much concerned on reading the Acct. you give of our Slag Hearth Men, and particularly on acct. of John Robson, but hope that, as they have had so little Slag Hearth Work of late, the Illness of both may be caused by something else than their being Smelters. We have recd. the last Weeks Coal Acct. which came in yrs. of the 24th. We are

      Your Hble Servts.

      Walton & Turner

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
