Messrs. Mulcaster Farnacres 29th. July 1785

We have recd. your Letters of the 25th. 27th. & 28th. Inst, all together this day & shall we hope be enabled to fix the Lead Carriage business in a few Days and after we do so shall not fail giving you directions relative thereto. We are glad the Hinges &c for the Treddles are arrived at Langley Mill. Richard Proberts Letter is now inclosed, we found it and thought some other Letter had by mistake been sent you but are glad we can now set the matter right. We are not by any means clear as to your wishes for more Iron. We are satisfied perfectly so that you will not desire us to send you any thing but what is needful and we have therefore written to Mr. Wilkinsons Agent to send what you have mentioned by Mondays Carrier but you’ll recollect that no loose new Materials or any other loose Materials except Bellows and their movement accompaniments are to be furnished to the Blagill Company by Greenwich Hospital. With regard to Slates it strikes us that no time shd. be lost in getting some other persons employed in working Slates either in Alston Moor [or] in West Allendale for we must not now be stopped on any Acct. This shews the Folly of Mr. Waltons directions not being followed which he first gave in the Blagill Co. Office. We are

      Your Hble Servts.

      Walton & Turner

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
