      You are desired to acquaint every one of the Lead Carriers that it is expected they from time to time keep their Lead under Cover, and in places of Safety ’til they either deliver it at Dukes Hall or Newcastle because we see clearly that the stealing of Lead is a growing Evil & that it requires the Attention of every one of us to prevent the bad Consequences arising from the pilfering of it. We shall be happy to hear Mr. Peter Mulcaster got well home & are

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
