Messrs. Mulcaster Farnacres 28 Nov. 1785

We have a letter from Mr. Menham in which he says that the Rollers were sent off last Friday, so that we hope they are now with you, as also the Iron which we ordered in consequence of your Letter, but we much doubt that whether the Rollers will be found to answer or not, as we fear the hollow part of them will not be found to be cylindrical; indeed we believe neither Mr. Menham nor Mr. Wood have been to blame concerning the delay, unless it may be that Mr. Menham may not have sufficient Judgement to cast such kinds of things, and we are told by Mr. Walton Senr. that it is very difficult to cast such things true.

You astonish us by saying that the Millwrights expect to be at Langley Mill for a Month yet, and we desire you will tell them that we cannot help thinking that they are too slow, and you may also tell them that if it is found upon the whole that they have spent more time than they ought to have done, it will fall very heavy upon Thos. Wood, and this part of our Letter we beg you’ll send to them when they are all together.

We approve of you postponing the making out of the Operation ’til next Saturday.

We are much obliged by the trouble Mr. Peter Mulcaster is taking abt. the Registers, & shall be glad to have the Result when convenient.

James & David Pigg have behaved very ill, and have gone from their Agreement. We are

      Your Hble Servts.

      Walton & Turner
