Messrs. Mulcaster Farnacres 18 Janry. 1786

We have recd. your Letter of the 16th. Inst, & shall write to Mr. Bedlington the first Opportunity about the Coals.

The Silver, which weighed ½ an Ounce more than you reckoned it, came safe to hand, and went off for London on Saturday last.

The pieces of coloured Lead also came safe, and were delivered to Lady Liddell on Monday last.

We will take the first Opportunity of settling the Rents for the Langley Mill Farms, and will then let you know, being now possessed of the necessary Particulars to settle this Business.

We are very sorry to hear that Elliot & Robinson have each of them lost a Cow.

The Lines drawn upon the Plan were drawn by Mr. Walton as he recollects.

We have not yet had time to try the casting of the Ashler Work.

You are desired to consider between yourselves whether the having 12 Acres of Dewey Sykes wd. be of any use to you by way of Pasture or otherwise, as we fear we will only get 12 Acres, but this we desire you will keep entirely to yourselves.

Having, since writing the above, cast up the Ashler, we return your Papers relative thereto & to the other Works for Langley & Blagill Mills, which you are desired to keep ’til the pay.

We must desire you will take the trouble of collecting the inclosed Notes for us, & for wch. you’ll be so good as to sign & return to us the inclosed Recets. We have ordered Wm. Coats to give Notice to the sev.l persons to pay the Money to you. You’ll have nothing to do but deliver up the Notes on paym[en]t of the Money. We are

      Your Hble Servts.

      Walton & Turner

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
