Messrs. Mulcaster Farnacres 15 July 1785

We have recd. your Letter of the 14th. Inst and are glad to see so good a Produce of Silver as 890 Ounces from 69 Fodders of Lead.

We desire that the Water Wheels may not be <painted> unless it may be that for the Stamp Mill and we will consider that and let you know further.

We are very much concerned indeed on acct. of poor Wm. Wilson; who we doubt it is too clear must be parted with.

The Errors as to the Black Slag Lead we shall set right, and let you know in our next. As to the Quantity short pd. for; that must be set right next Pay, and we desire you will not trouble yourselves concerning the Errors as they are very few in Number, and we are perfectly satisfied of your good Intentions.

The new Smelting Bellows we are satisfied from your reasons must go to the Blagill Company.

We are glad to hear you have got <16> Fodders of the Clargill Slates.

The Smelting Bellows are gone from Newcastle this Day; we believe Jas. Johnson has one pair & John Corbett the other, & we hope they will arrive safe. When it becomes necessary to take off the packing, we doubt not your care in preserving the <Hair Cloth> as much as possible.

      We are Your Hble Servts.

      Walton & Turner

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
