Messrs. Mulcaster Farnacres 13 Sept. 1784

We have recd. your Letter of the 11th. inst. I cannot possibly take time to look at the Silver and therefore return the whole. If any of the pieces are in your opinion clean, I certainly think it wd. not be proper to let them undergo a second Operation. You will therefore only clean the pieces that are dirtied and then return the whole to Newcastle.

On the 25th. of August Mr. Harvey sent me his Note for 60 single 1 ¼ Inch Deals at £7. 10 - per Hundred, at the same time he sent me his Charge for 60 which were sent to Nent Force Level; I am therefore afraid both parcels have gone to Alston, & if so, it must have happened from the Negligence of the Carrier, and James Johnson must bring them back to the Mill for nothing.

I am glad the School master is entered, and seems likely to answer.

We must submit to the Weather as it will do far more good to the Country than hurt to us.

I am very sorry to have so bad an Acct. of Jos. Hall, and doubt all is over. I am

      Your Hble Servt.

      Nich. Walton Junr.

PS. The Gunpowder is come safe. Nothing is to be done abt. curing the Parlour Chimney of Smoking till I come to the Mill so you’ll keep the <PanPlate> till then.
