Messrs. Mulcaster Farnacres 12th. Decem[be]r 1785

On the other half of this Sheet you have the Sizes of several Hoops of Iron which we have at Throckley Engine to dispose of and you are desired to consider & let us know whether any of them will suit for you at the Mill or Matthew Temperley for the Colliery. Also let us know whether a Maul 8 pounds weight wd. be of any use. The Iron is as good as new.

We wish to hear from you with a Valuation of the Hearth Stone & Bellows &c which the Blagill Co. are to Pay for with all convenient dispatch as they ought to be put into this Years Pay at Blagill.

If you think well of it after consulting with John Mulcaster, we would advise that John’s Son be brought to Newcastle and one of you to come with him and that you might both stay at Newcastle till there was an opportunity of some person of Judgement seeing the Boy in one of his Fits from first coming on till its going off and to take that Advice in consequence. This we advise as the best thing we can think of but if you are of opinion that this shd. not be done we advise that some person of skill shd. come to Langley Mill from Hexham & stay the Night so as to see the Boy’s fit come and go off or that one of you shd. go with him to Hexham & stay with him there till the like could be observed of then to state a Case for Doctor Brown’s advice. We heartily wish a compleat recovery to the Boy and are

      Your Hble Servants

      Walton & Turner

PS. I shall be glad to hear of Mr. P Mulcaster and Mr. T. Temperley getting well to Langley Lead Mill.

A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
