To John Ibbetson Esqr Farnacres the 30th April 1779

Dear Sir

Ever since I received yours w'th the Biddings, I have exerted myself to the utmost in getting an Account of the Proposers for the Farms, and am continuing to do so, and I have great Satisfaction in communicating to you, that I find things upon the whole to look much better than any of us had reason to expect, which it is not doubted will give you great pleasure. I am still however confident that it is necessary we sh'd. have powers given us to put the eligible Bidders into possession upon the 12th of May as without that there will be nothing but confusion & loss to Greenwich Hospital. You may depend upon receiving the Report upon the Biddings you have sent with all Expedition, but that will not be possible to be done so as to have a Return from you with the General Court Minutes before the 18th of May which shows the necessity of your sending us discretionary Powers as mentioned in my last. I am

      Dr Sr Yours &c

      N.W.Junr.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
