To John Ibbetson Esqr Farnacres 28th April 1779
My Dear Sir
I wrote you yesterday desiring full directions respecting the General Letting and beg leave to refer thereto but least any accident may have befallen the Letter of Yesterday which I sent by Express I now inclose you a duplicate. This afternoon I recd. yours by Express at Three o Clock and observe a report upon the biddings is expected and I presume it is proposed that those persons who appear on the report to be eligible shall be recommended to and their Proposals confirmed by a General Court. If that is to be insisted on I am clearly of
Opinion that a great many of the biddings will assuredly be lost and indeed if we are not impowered to put those persons into possession on the 12th of May who appear to us to be
elligible and where it appears necessary put those Tenants out who are now in possession there is no saying what may be the consequence. You have my real Sentiments when I say the above and you may depend on it I shall exert every Nerve in expediting the necessary enquiries but without we are impowered by immediate Express in return to this to do our best in putting those into possession who appears to be the most eligible the loss must beyond a doubt be very great to the Hospital. It is the more necessary that we should be Armed with discretionary powers immediately to prevent advantage being taken by the Tenants now in
possession, who will of course hold their Farms another Year at the present Rent if not dispossessed or their Farms relett to them on the 12th May at advance Rents. I am
Dr Sr Yours &c
