To John Ibbetson Esqr Farnacres 27th April 1779

Sir

On the 15th inst I wrote you respecting directions about the General letting of the Derwentwater Estate and I also wrote you the 23rd inst on the same Subject. I cannot omit again repeating the Wishes I have so often expressed on the occasion and to communicate to you my Sentiments concerning this Business which is so very essential to Greenwich Hospital. The receiving Directions here before the 12th of May is so exceedingly material that unless we do so Greenwich Hospital must be very greatly hurt; for if the Tenants now in possession are permitted to continue on the Farms after the 12th of May they will of course hold for another year at the Old Rent, I mean the present Rent, and in such case all the Sums bid extra will be lost, and the biddings now made in consequence of the Advertisement totally lost; and if we should give notice to all the Tenants now in possession that they are to Quit the 12th of May and they should do so the whole of the Estates will then be unoccupied and in the Hospitals own Hands. For those reasons I most earnestly beg that you will send us directions by Express together with all the biddings as we cannot take a step without your Directions and the loss of every moment is now of the highest concern. I am for Mr Turner & Self

      Sir Yours &c

      N W Junr.

PS I send this by Express & request of you to be as expeditious as possible in letting me have

a return in the same manner as it will be impossible for us to do the busyness in any way unless we hear from you immediately.
