To John Ibbetson Esqr . Farnacres 1st July 1779

Sir

You will by this Weeks Carrier receive our General Account Rentals and Vouchers for one year ending the 21 of Nov'r last which you will be so good as to lay before the Board and we inclose our Cash Account for the Month of May upon which there is a balance of £1264:4:9 in favour of Greenwich Hospital.

The Commissioners of the Turnpike Road intended to be made on the South Side of the River Tyne and to which the Hospital sometime since subscribed £100.-.- have several times applied to us for an Augmentation of their Subscription as the Money originaly subscribed has been laid out and the Road is far from being compleated. The rest of the Subscribers have been applied to for the same purpose and some of them have agreed to advance a further Sum, but others have not as yet consented to do so. The sum of Money necessary to compleat this Road has not been ascertained and therefore we cannot acquaint the Board with the additional Sum that will be expected from the Hospital in proportion to their Original Subscription but should be glad to receive the Boards directions to Subscribe such further Sum as we shall see necessary not exceeding one half of the Original Subscription as the Reasons which induced the recomm[end]ing the Original Subscription hold good with respect to any additional one.

We are Sir Your most obed't Serv'ts

      NW Jun'r	J.C.T.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
