Mr. John Holmes Farnacres 8th. January 1787 Sir, We have recd. your Letter of the 3rd. Instant and have this day drawn upon you for £271 being the amount of 960 Ounces of fine Silver at 5s. 7 ¾d per Ounce. Mr. Walton Senr. has had a Letter from Mr. Smeaton giving an Acct. of all being well at Austhorpe. We are Sir, Your most Humble Servts. Walton & Turner PS. We cannot account for it but a Gentleman of our acquaintance ay Newcastle who has a great deal of Silver to dispose of says that he has for some time past got 5s. 8 ¼d per Ounce for his fine Silver. The Bill is payable at 40 days after Date. Mr. Walton will be obliged by your getting him a Ream of Copying Paper at Mr. Woodmasons, Folio, uncut; and Six Bottles of Copying Ink, and desires they may be sent by some one of the Coal Ships to the care of Mr. Henry Airey in Newcastle 86 Mr. Cook who lives at Lady Ravensworths in St. James’s Square will assist Mr. Holmes in getting them sent on Board a proper Ship. Mr. Smeaton will write Mr. Holmes about a Compass wch. it is desired may come along with the Paper & Ink. £271 _____ Farnacres 8th. January 1787 Forty Days after Date Pay to the Order of Messrs.
