Sir

      By tomorrows Waggon you will receive a Box containing 922 Ounces of fine Silver.

      I desire you’ll be so good as to pay Richard Probert for 100 Casks of Bone Ash which he acquaints Mr. Turner & me he sent on Board the Peggy Captain Middlemas the 12 Instant at Red Lion Wharf where I suppose the Vessel is still lying on or waiting for a Wind. I am  Dr. Sir

PS. I send a proper Receipt for R. Probert to Sign which I desire you return after the Money is paid to him and he has signed it. You’ll observe it is to be Witnessed as he Signs by making a Mark. I shall not forget to allow for this.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
