Mr. John Holmes Farnacres 17 Novem[be]r 1786

Dear Sir,

I was favoured with your letter of the 7th. Inst inclosing Two Letters and a Bill upon Mr. I. Walker for £20. The Letters have been delivered as directed, and the Bill is accepted by Walker, but tho’ I wrote him a Letter, I was not favoured with an Answer; if however he pays the Money I shall not mind that.

By tomorrows Waggon you will receive a Box containing 900 Ounces of fine Silver.

I am glad to hear my Brother Smeaton is well. Pray tell him I shall not be able to proceed upon his work ’til some time in December, but you will assure him I shall not neglect a Moment when I can attend to it. I have read it over but without doing anything else. I am with very best Wishes to you and him.

      Dear Sir Your &c

      NW Junr.

A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
