To Mr John Everest Ravensworth Castle April 6 1759

Sir

We have reced. your Letter of the 31 of March last in Answer to which we are of Opinion the description of the Lead Mine to be granted the Quaker Company ought to stand in the Same words as are Intended to be Inserted in the General Lead Leases And cannot be altered without prejudice to the Hospital viz: with Liberty to work the same [rest of sentence underlined:] in Length Twelve Hundred yards and Forty yards in breadth on Each side of the said Vein provided the same does not Interfere with any former grant of any Lead Mine now now in Being. [underlining ends]

And we are also of Opinion that each & every Lead Mine to be granted to that Company and every other person ought to be in Seperate Leases and of Dates & Commencements according to the times of making the proposals to preserve the Priority. We wrote to the Board our Sentiments when the last Draughts were sent to which we referr, and as we have understood the Board gave directions thereupon we Humbly presume it would not be right to make any alteration without their orders and therefore what we now offer is Submitted to their Consideration.

We are Sir your most Humble Servts.

      N Walton H Boag

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
