Mr Bell

      This comes to acquaint you we have fixed Monday and Tuesday the 16th and 17th of October next for the Rect. of the Derwentwater Rents of which pray give all necessary Notice, & have as many of the Tennants as you can to come in upon the Monday.  The Courts will be holden at Newlands the 17th at Haydon Bridge the 18th & at Wark the 19th & 20th of October, of which pray Inform Mr Ridley as farr as it relates to him.  Mr Stewart will send you & him the precepts for giving Notice of the Courts as usual.  I have wrote to Mr  Johnson to get the Crop at Peacock House taken care of, in which you will assist; shou’d it not be call’d to be Sold.  I think it shou’d.   I am
