D[ea]r Sir	I wrote to you from Musselburgh the 22rd Ulto & am apprehensive that my letter has miscarried, as I have not heard from you  I hope that this will find you & the New married couple perfectly well & that you have had a good account of Mr & Mrs Beaumont

	On the 9th Inst I sent to Mr Tweedale a Bill on London for £2000 on Accot which I hope you have Received _ I yesterday made a Sale of Lead to Dr Hall for Lancaster & Co (as by particulars at foot) which I hope that you may approve of.  Indeed I was apprehensive that the Price of Lead must drop, Messr Meason of Edinburgh & other Leadholders were of the same Opinion, as there has been small demand for that Article for some time past & some Thousand Pieces of Refin[e]d Lead have lately been offered by Messrs Airey & Messrs Hopper to the Houses of Lancaster & Walkers at £19 per Fo[dde]r & refused which is matter of surprise to me & I can no other way Accot for its than Lancaster & Co having a large Stock of Lead on hand which they purchased high & apprehensive of a fall of Price & by making this purchase they are in hopes of establishing the Price for the Year  I wish they may succeed in their Scheme _ The Parish of St Andrews in this Town (in which you have 30 Charity Boys) have entered into a Subs[criptio]n for 40 Girls which Subs[criptio]n is completed but a School is wanted for them as well as for the Boys & a Subs[criptio]n is set on foot for that purpose as well as for the Erecting of a Gallery in the Church for both Boys & Girls; I am desired to mention this matter to you in hopes that you will contribute towards it
