Dear Sir     At my return home I found your Letter.  I observe what you say with respect to the Claim made on Sir John Trevelyan for a Sum subscribed by the late Sir Walter Blackett to the new Road from Elsdon.  I have not the least doubt of what you say but as no Notice is taken of this Subscription in any paper that has come to my hands & I am acting for another Person I thought it reasonable that the Subscription Paper should be shewn me that I may know on what footing it is subscribed.   This Mr. Turner told Mr. Goldburn the Treasurer but he has never thought proper to do it.  When I have this Satisfaction (which I hope you will think reasonable) the money shall be immediately paid.     I am etc      J E B.
