To Mr Blackett Midford   at Congleton                            Newcas  20th Octor  1777

  In  Cheshire 



Sir      The late Sir Walter Blackett Barot  by a Codicil to his Will dated 26th Decem[be]r 1776 has bequeathed to “Blackett Midford Son of Fran[ci]s Midford of Congelton in Cheshire Two Hundred pounds”  Sir Walter Blackett died the 14th Febr[uar]y 1777 & directs in his Will that the Legacies shall be paid off in Twelve Months from his Death.   His Nephew Sir John Trevelyan is left sole Executor (for whom I act) and is desirous of discharging this Legacy.   I apprehend that you are of Age.  If so, you will please to sign the inclosed Receipt before Witnesses & on your sending it with a Copy of your Register signed by the Minister & Churchwardens to any Person in this Place the Money shall be paid by  etc        J E B

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale.
