To Mr Simpson Ravensworth Castle Sept 14 1759
Dear Sir
We Recd yours and observe what you say as to the Renewal of Dilston & Harbottle Tythes, and desire you will do what is Necessary to be done with the Dean & Chapter in regards thereto. At the last Renewall they required an application to be made from the Board of Directors, but that we apprehend was owing to the Length of time Lapsed beyond the Common time of Renewal so that we suppose they will not think it necessary to trouble the Board now, if they do you will let us know that the application may be made accordingly in due time, We have it not in our power to give you a Rental of Dilston Tyths as the Farmes are Lett at a certain Rent Tyth included, but we value them as we did at the last Renewal viz. at £45 per Ann. although they will become of less value by laying down the best land to Grass. As to Lorbottle Tyths they are Lett as they then were, at £36per Ann. You will be so obliging as to let us know what will be Expected to be paid for this small omission in the Renewal. The last Leases we have & shall be delivered up to the Chapter on their Granting New ones. We will be at Penrith 9 October Next and will then bring them with us. We are Dear Sir
Your most Humble Servts.
Hugh Boag Nicho. Walton Jnr
