Mr Naisbett

      I rec’d yours at my return home and have Consulted my P’tner about building a Smith shop & house at Scremerston for the use of all the farmers that will Employ him.  And we have agreed that you shall build or rather rebuild the Smiths house & shop on as Easy Terms as you can and we do not Doubt of your frugality therein.   I am for p’tner & selfe

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale.
