To Sir Wr Blackett Bt. M.P. in half Moon Street Newcas. 3rd April 1771

  Piccadilly, London

Honrd. Sir I was glad to receive your Letter Contradicting the Assertion, of the printer of the London Evening Post, “that you had abused the Minority” All your friends had agreed it could not be. yet the Minds of some credulous violent patriots here were irritated by it. but they are now set almost right again, I think.

I have acquainted the printers of our Newspapers of the Falsehood of That paragraph; & do not find any disposition in them to propagate it.

There was a thin Meeting at Nellys last Week about the Subscription for Supporting the printers: & I cannot learn that any Thing was done towards it. I hope you are well & am etc HR

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
