Sir,

I acquainted S[i]r Wr Blackett, as you wrote me, that the £6000 belonging to Mr Spearman’s Estate could not be lent but upon Governm[en]t security or Mortgage & writes me in Answer that if you will accept, in security for that Money at 4 pct, of his freehold Estate at West Ord near Berwick of 150s a yr & the fishery there of 330s a yr a person shall come over to settle the matter with you on my receiving yo[u]r ans[we]r w[hi]ch you will please to favour me with as soon as you can. I am etc   HR

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale.
