Gentlemen

As it is probable in a few Years, or sooner there may be occasion to enter into Treaty with the Bishop of Durham for a renewal of a Life in the Lease of the Leadmines held under his Lordship, I shall esteem it a favour (as it must be of Service to whomsoever may treat with his L[or]ds[hi]p if you will take the trouble of examining all the Accounts necessary (which Mr Richmond will lay before you) to give You thorough information into that Matter, so that you may say what Sum in your Judgement ought to be paid for Such renewal & your Opinion will be a particular Satisfaction to

Gentlemen

Yours etc Wr Blackett

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
