To Mr John Bell at Mr Ellis’s in Hexham Newca[stle] 12th Febry 1769

Sir

I have a Letter from Sir Wr Blackett to Night in which he bids me write you that he agrees to your letting Keenly kilns as mentioned in your Letter to him of the 4th instant, only there must be a Clause of forfeiting the Lease if Wigham does not observe the Covenants. Sir Wr says he does not think himself liable, nor that he ought to be liable to pay Mr Tulip for the Lime which Matt Bell had of him. I hope you have not paid Mr Tower’s rents to any body since Mr Cuthbertson’s death, for he tells Sir Wr he has not authorised any to receive them. He says there are two half y[ea]rs rents due to him & that another will be due the next month. I desire you will let me know by Tuesday’s post whether this is right or no. I am etc HR
