To Mr George Selby - Attorney at Law Newcas 9th Janry 1774

                   In Alnwick

Sir

I received your Letter of the 7th instant and as to what you take Notice of in John Anderson’s Lease Sir Walter Blackett’s Intention is to put that Matter right for Mr Selby before he enters to his purchase it being a Mistake which we were not aware of till after the Sale as the Lease has been kept at Wallington ever since its Execution. As to the Difficulties which appear to be in your Way respecting the Description of the Colliery in East Ord Estate I think they would be better got over if Mr Selby you and I had an hours Conversation together about them - the sooner this is had the better as Sir Walter talks of going to London about the 19th instant but my Ill state of Health will not allow me to go from home so I must leave it to you to contrive a Meeting

I do not know whether I have a right copy of the Division Deed or no & therefore if we have a Meeting it would be best for you to bring your Deed or a Copy of it with you

                                                                                                     I am etc HR
