Dear Neice

      I rec[eive]d your Letter am altogether a stranger to the Duke of Sommerset, & as for my nephew Blacket he is not a proper person at all for his Intrest went Intirely against the dukes son att the Election for Northumberland If you could make any Intrest with young Mr Rodgers he might Easly procure your husband that liveing with my humble service to you both I am

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
