Tuesday 7th
Received the Rents at Belford, settled various accounts for Work and paid the balance to the Bank Agent from Alnwick as usual. The receipt was better than I expected, Mrs Thomson of Glororum having been disappointed of some money, begged for three weeks to make it up.
There is an evident improvement in the state of her farm & fences. The Agent under the Assignees of Major Johnson gave me £500, being all that the Colliery had produced, leaving me to settle with the Assignees in Newcastle for the remainder.
Was obliged to give the remainder of the week to the settlement of various affairs in which I am Trustee & Executor in this part of the Country & in Edinburgh.
