Saturday 24th January 1835 Having received last night by Coach an Affidavit from Mr Fenwick requiring my Oath before a Commissioner of Exchequer, to prove the claims of the Hospital against Robert Johnson, as Lessee of Scremerston Colliery, Limekilns and Farm, I rode at an early hour to Hexham & got the Commissioner’s signature in time to enclose it by the Mail to Mr Fenwick. Returned by the banks of the Tyne, watching the effects of the River upon them, being in flood from the melting of the Snow. In the course of the day I had some parties enquiring particulars respecting the letting of Dilston New Town Farm, from whom I hope to receive offers on monday.
