Yours of 20th with the inclosed came to safe hand I should have answered but that I have been out of Toone I shall examane them & place them to account my request was to you that you would sell my lead Cottons & Stockings off at price current & send returns per Mr White for to lye to <another> Fair will be inconvenient & noe shipping till next vintage, soe pray sell of the goods rather then draw bills for here is such a dead trade that their is noe returns for London I ordered my sonn Ralph to come home per Mr White but I dout [not] the letter came too late, pray lett him take the next convenience of Shipping for I have want of him here, if I Thought Goods would not have sould I would have ordered for noe returns the <are very> dead here, pray write per first, that I may order my business accordinly , & fornish my sonn with what he <kacks [has?]> accation for this wh[a]t needfull

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
