To Mr Thomas Simpson Ravensworth Castle Decem. 18 1759

Dear Sir

I wrote to you the 14th Inst. and desired the favour of you to Enquire by some Friend of yours at Carlisle, after a Transaction we have had with one Mr Hodshon at Carlisle relating a French Prisoner there. Since which I have been informed Mr Hodshon is Deputy Pay Master of the French Prisoners so that his Silence is accounted for. It is therefore the more necessary to desire that you will as early as you can have the matter Enquired into and lett us know if the two Guineas has been paid to Mr Grenier; if a Letter was delivered to him with it, and what his Pay has been. I am ashamed to give you so much Trouble in this Affaire, but hope you’ll Excuse it & in return Command me in any thing wherein I can Serve you in this part of the World being Sir

      Your most Obliged Humble Servt

      Nichos. Walton Jun.
