To Mr <Ro> Ancrum Ravensworth Castle Apr. 14 1758

Sir

I did not receive your Letter of the 7 Inst sooner than last Tuesday Evening, so that I did not answer it before this day. I did mention to Mr Romer , that in case you desired it, you should be permitted to hold the farm at Scremerston till Whittsuntide but at the same time I did not consider how near that was to old Mayday, & as I never heard from you after I spoke to you, I presumed you thought it no way material as the Difference is only two days. I must therefore desire you will order the Pasture now to be Hained if it is not done already, & prepare your matters so as to leave the Farm at old Mayday agreeable to your Lease. I shall be verry glad to do you all reasonable service in any thing where you have had a hardship & am

      Yours etc N Walton

P.S. I have a Letter from Mr Romer complaining of the Grounds not being Hained & I have this day wrote him, that I doubt not but you will do it immediately, for his Entry at old Mayday; I have desired him to call upon the Tenn.ts. on rect. of mine and acquaint them therewith
