Sir

      Inclosed we send you our Cash Accot. for the Month of April last, on which there remains a Ballance of Five hundred & Ninety Pounds fifteen shillings & a penny farthing in our hands & you will also be pleased to receive the Moor Masters Accounts for 3 Months ending at Lady day last, & the severall Proposalls we have recd. for Lead Mines Inclosed; all which we desire you will lay before the Board.  Our Contingent Accounts shall be sent you in a post or two.

      There will be severall Repairs & Buildings necessary to be made upon the Derwentwater Estates which should be put forward as soon as possible, as the Season now is for building and as it will require time to settle with the Tennants what is necessary so as to have the Boards particular direction, we would wish to have a discretionary power to proceed & make agreements immediately after settling with the Tennants; & to transmitt to the Board such agreements as are made from time to time; in which we will take care to be frugall & do the most we can for the Interest of the Hospital. The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
