Messrs Mulcaster, Farnacres 21st September 1787.

Inclosed we send you a letter which we have rec[eive]d from Mr Ruddock and upon which we should be glad to have your & Mr Coat’s joint opinion and Report as soon as your Convenience will permit and we should be glad to hear at the same time what Estates are in Langley Township and what Estates in Deanraw Township. When you write pray return the inclosed Letter.

We have rec[eive]d your Letter of the 14th Inst inclosing 11 Assays including one from the White Ore we sent you, & we thank you for the trouble you had in assaying the White Ore which we observe does not prove refineable according to the present price of Lead and Silver.

This Day is extremely wet indeed so that if you have it as wet, it will spoil the Peats that are yet out very much, but we hope they are mostly in as yesterday was so very fine a Day.

       We are Yours etc

       W & T

P.S. Our wish is certainly to have Statute Work performed upon the Alston Road, but we see Difficulties attending this Business which we are doubtful may occasion Litigation. This however to yourselves.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
