Messrs Mulcaster Farnacres 16 Febry 1787.

We have received your Letter of the 12th Inst and very much approve of what you are doing and propose to do to the Lead Carriers. We are very glad to see that the Lead Carriage has got so well on, as we are also when we acquaint you that it is expected there will be a brisk demand for Lead this year. The present current price for refined lead is £17 per Fodder, and the last Bullion which we sent to London was sold for 5s 7 ¾d per ounce. The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
