I have put up the Assays which were in the inclosed <pages> into my collecting box.

I desire you’ll engage John Jackson to supply the place of Joshua Elliott being satisfied Sir John Turner will approve of this. I think it necessary to direct you to let Wm Brown and Frank Robinson know that we think their applications were very improper ones as we do not chuse to employ their children as labourers at Langley Mill.

As Willm. Armstrong has thought proper at last to make an appology I most readily forgive him on condition of he and his family taking care for the future not to offend & I will not mention the matter to <..>. But I must request further that they prevent others as much as they can from committing such Trespasses for the Time to come as I had reason to complain of. I am for Self and Sir John Turner

       Your Humble Servants

       Nicholas Walton & Turner

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
