To Mr. Romer Ravensworth Castle Apr. 14 1758

Sir

I received yours of the 9th Inst only last Tuesday & coud not answer it by that days post as it came too late. You may remember I spoke to you about Mr Ancrums continuing upon his farm till Whitsuntide & I mentioned it to him afterward but he then said little to it & took no notice of it to either Mr Boag or me afterwards which made me conclude he thought it Immaterial as Whitsuntide is so near Mayday. I Reced. a Letter the same post as yours from Mr Ancrum & I have wrote him by this post, that as I never heard from him after I spoke to him as above, that he must Hain the Pasture Ground, & leave the Farm at old Mayday agreeable to his Lease; which I hope he will comply wth. so far as he now can . And I apprehend there will be no occasion for either of us to come over to give you possession.

I am yours etc N. Walton

P.S. It will be right for you to go to Scremerston on recet. of this & acquaint the two Ancrums that you expect the ground Hained pursuant to their Lease for your Entry [corner folded] Mayday, & that you have orders from the Rece’v’s
