To Mr Woodhouse Ravensworth Castle Novr. 30 1759
Dear Sir
I have your favour of the 27 Inst, by this days Post, in answer to which we made an overpayment to Mr Pearson of two years Customary Rent of Corbridge Lands the 24th November 1755 at which time you will observe the payment was for three years, when only one was due at Lamas 1755; upon the discovery of which Mr Pearson refunded the over charge & we brought it to account accordingly 19 November 1756.
The Four pounds for Newlands & Fairle was made up thus:
Newlands £3.13. 4
Fairle 9 .
£4. 2. 4d Land tax allowed on £4 only
The £12.10 for Aydonsh’d etc was made up thus:
Aydonshield £4.19.04
Coastley 5.18.05
EadsBush 4.10
Gairshield 5.00
Turfhouse 0.04
Whitley Mill 1.06.08
£12.14. 7d Land Tax allowed on £12.10 only
You will be pleased to observe that the Newlands & Fairle being due to Mr Fenwick, they are Joyned together & the allowance made on £4 as if it had been one Rent which is an advantage to the Hospitall. And the £12.14.07 being the property of Sir Walter Blackett those Rents are put together in like manner & the allowance made on £12.10 as if it had been one Intire Rent, which is equally advantageous. I have just time to save the Post & hope the above will fully answer what you want, if it does not I shall be glad to doe it in any manner I am able. It gives me considerable concern that I did not know where to meet with you when I was upon my Staffordshire Journey as it woud have given me great pleasure to have been useful to you or any friend of yours. If I can have any particulars sent me of what he/ your Bro[ther] wants I will give him my best advice in writing. Mr Boag & my son are both well & begg their Compliments. I am
Dear Sir yours etc
