To Chris. Bell Ravensworth. Castle October 21st 1759

Upon my coming home I found a Letter from the Secretary for Greenwich Hospl. acquainting us that a Gentleman who had been lately in the North Informed some of the Directors that there was a great want of Care of the Spring Woods in the Derwentwater Estate & that they were destroyed by Cattle for want of fencing off. I must therefore desire you will come down to Newcastle on Thursday next, that we may be enabled to give some answer to this Complaint, which I hope is groundless; in the meantime I desire you will take a Ride through the young Springs everywhere that you may with greater Certainty Clear up this matter. I goe for Whittingham to morrow morning and will I hope be back on Wednesday; Mr Boag & I both propose being at the Rents at Gateshead on Thursday, the day following. I am Yrs etc

      N. W. Junr.
