									Unthank 21 July 1778

Dear Madm.

I am very sorry when I got to the Sessions my health would not permit me to see my friends, was not able to sit in the Court above half an hour & be glad to get home wch. I did (by resting on the way) on Wednesday Eve at Ten o Clock.

As the weather is now changed, & plenty of Day Water to keep the Ingen [engine] going, shall be glad of your Sons presence upon the spot, to determine what is proper to be done for your advantage as well as ours. Your people are not so deep as the Old Workings before you begun the Mine by agreement with us nor is it likely that the pickings the Old Man left will reimburse you. Sinking below into fresh Ground has a chance. If Mr. Baker chooses to proceed further for the (to be hoped) benefit of both parties, now is the season. Shall not add, as Mr. Bakers giveing timely notice of the time of meeting to me. Shall if able attend him or order a proper person to represent me, if not of ability.

My best wishes attend yourself & Son

Dr. Madm. Yr. most Obed. Servt.

      Jno Westgarth
